To protect the environment and promote an enjoyable experience for visitors, DOC has a number of services which you are required to book. These are shown on the map.
The Online Booking System allows you to check availability (dates), book your trip, make limited changes to, or cancel your booking.
Before attempting to book, we strongly recommend you read the destination information and Terms and Conditions.

Booking instructions

To book online you must have:
  • a Visa or Mastercard for payment via a secure payment gateway
  • the services/facilities you want and the date/s to book
  • the names, ages and country of residence of all the people you wish to book
  • scripting enabled (most browsers do) - screen readers may not work

What if you can't book online?
You can book at the counter or by phone, fax or email - see the Contact Us details for the place you want to book or email booking@doc.govt.nz.
You will need to supply the details listed in the "To book online" section above with your booking application.
Please note that sending your credit card details by email is not recommended for security reasons.

Terms and conditions
It is important you understand the terms and conditions before making a booking. To find out about the alterations and cancelation policy, refunds, discounts, transfers etc, see Booking terms and conditions.
Commercial or organised tour groups
If you want to operate a commercial activity in an area managed by the Department of Conservation you will need to apply for a Concession (an official permit) in addition to any booking you require. For more information see Concessions.
