The date that bookings for the 2017/18 (1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018) season will open is yet to be confirmed. A notice will be posted on this site a minimum of 14 days before bookings open.
Ensure you check the low tide times before you book. Awaroa Estuary can only be crossed 1.5 hours before low tide and up to 2 hours after low tide.
There is a TWO night maximum stay at all huts/campsites on the Coast Track in peak season (except Totaranui Great Walks camp which is one night). Separate bookings for the same group under different names are NOT permitted.
MOSQUITO BAY CAMPSITE IS WATER ACCESS ONLY. THERE IS NO WALKING TRACK TO THIS CAMPSITE. Do not book unless you have firstly arranged boat access. There is no water taxi service to this campsite and no kayaks for hire from other campsites.
DOC and Project Janszoon, have carried out an aerial 1080 operation in the northern part of the Park. Signage will be in place to inform the public that drops have taken place. http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/nelson-tasman/places/abel-tasman-national-park/things-to-do/tracks/abel-tasman-coast-track/
Please be aware that all hut and campsite accommodation along the Abel Tasman Coast Track needs to be booked in advance. Using huts and campsites without a valid booking inconveniences visitors to the park who have made an advance booking. Visitors arriving without a valid booking will either be charged a penalty fee or may be asked to leave the park.
Recent weather events combined with very high tides have altered access along Onetahuti beach. The stream exit just north of Onetahuti camp has become difficult to cross several hours either side of high tide. There is no alternative route around this area. Access along the beach may be restricted at high tide, and visitors should be prepared to wait for up to two hours until the tide has receded.
